COVID-19 Team Manager Responsibilities

Every team will be required to recruit parent volunteer(s) who will be designated as the Team Manager(s) and who will be responsible for the enforcement of the COVID-19 policies. Teams are encouraged to identify a primary and backup or set up a rotation among 2-3 parents to fill this role. An online / zoom meeting training session will be required for team managers prior to the start of the season.

Health Screening on the day of participation

To be cleared for participate in FPYC Basketball, officials, coaches, parents and players must agree to complete a FPYC waiver online and a health screening questionnaire located in Appendix A. If any participant does not meet the criteria to safely participate, the player and parent must voluntarily sit out of a scheduled activity until all the evaluation criteria are met. The COVID-19 Team Manager will be responsible for completing the online Daily Team Report form, located in Appendix B.

Contact Tracing and Mandatory Voluntary Reporting of COVID-19 Positive Test

All FPYC Basketball participants must agree to report any COVID-19 positive test results so that FPYC Basketball can complete precautionary contact tracing. Due to the sensitivity and health privacy laws, an online reporting form will be made available and sent directly to the FPYC Basketball Director. The Director will be responsible for maintaining the privacy of the individual who have tested positive and will use the Daily Team Reports to provide notifications to any participants who may have been exposed to the participant that tested positive. Appendix C has a form letter to notify participants of a positive test result and all required precautions.

The participant that tests positive for COVID-19 will be prohibited from participating in FPYC Basketball activities for a minimum of 14 calendar days and must have a negative test before being cleared for participation. The FPYC Director will be responsible for documenting and tracking these cases. Appendix D has the form that the FPYC Director will use to track these cases. This information will remain confidential and not shared with anyone.

Cleaning Procedures

All Teams will be supplied with cleaning supplies. The COVID-19 Team Manager is responsible for wiping down common, high-touch areas and making sure they are cleaned prior to, and during events. High touch areas include the bench/seating area, game ball (during games), entry/exit door handles, etc. For games, the scoreboard console and scoring table must be wiped down between games. The game ball must be cleaned at every quarter break, and at a stoppage close to the halfway point of each period.

We only have a total of 50 Scholarships league wide that are only offered for the winter season. Scholarship players will pay $75 for house registration (the late fee of $40 will NOT be waived for scholarship players, only the base house fee, so register early if you are scholarship eligible). FPYC Basketball offers house leagues for boys and girls from first grade to senior in high school. Player evaluations for the house leagues will take place in November and you can view the evaluation schedule for all of the house leagues on the house evaluation page once we get our gym space finalized. Once a player has registered, whether via the Registration page on this website or at the Clubhouse, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE DATE OF THE EVALUATION SESSION FOR YOUR LEAGUE. The evaluation session enables all of the coaches for the league in question to observe the players’ abilities so that they can be chosen in a draft later in November. Players who attend the evaluation session for their league after registering at the Clubhouse or via the Registration page on this website are guaranteed a spot on a team. Players who fail to attend the evaluation session will still have to be evaluated by the League Director at the League Director’s convenience and might have to be placed on a waiting list. REGISTER SOON AND ATTEND THE CORRECT EVALUATION SESSION!

FPYC Basketball is also fielding several select teams for boys and girls in 5th through 8th grades to compete in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League against select teams from other youth clubs throughout the County. The select teams will start their tryouts in October 2021, and the final cuts for select teams will come soon after tryouts end in mid-October. YOU MUST REGISTER AND PAYTHE $225.00 SELECT REGISTRATION FEE BEFORE YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN ANY WAY WITH THE SELECT PROGRAM. IF YOU DO NOT MAKE A TEAM YOU WILL BE REFUNDED 100% OF THE REGISTRATION FEE. NOT INCLUDED IN THE FEE ARE ADDITIONAL TEAM UNIFORM COSTS. TBD.

Scholarship eligible players who participate in the select program will be required to pay the full $75 reduced fee and must come to the open house, in addition any other fees associated with the select program (uniforms and such).

The select tryout schedule is posted on the FPYC website. Once the rosters of the select teams are set, players who have not been chosen to play on a select team can still attend the FPYC house league evaluation and play in the appropriate house league. The Assistant Director for the FPYC Select Basketball Program is George Ragan. If you have any questions about the Select Basketball Program, please feel free to contact George at  George@yoursportpage.com

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

FPYC is a completely volunteer based organization. We are in need of Volunteers to help Coach and run our Leagues. This year FPYC Basketball is offering a COUPON to qualified and accepted Volunteers  to coach or direct a league. We are offering a $50 credit towards a player registration fee. If you are interested in volunteering or know someone who is please have them contact Ryan Muniz Director Of FPYC Basketball at Ryan@affordablelawnsprinklers.com. Please note that you must register to volunteer first to receive the coupon code before registering a player.

Finally, please always remember that this is a family/community league. I expect parents to cheer for both teams at every game (this includes the select teams) and behave like responsible adults/fans. I expect coaches to set the example and to manage their parents at each game.

Any disrespectful behavior to referees, players, coaches, or other parents will result in your removal from the gym, which will most likely result in your being banned from attending any further games or practices for the rest of the season. Lets remember how important good sportsmanship is to FPYC.

See you on the courts!
